College can be the most stressful time in any young adults life what with all the deadlines, assignments, and having your usual eight hours of sleep reduced to rubble. Coming from someone who is currently in college (Im a sorta-senior!), sometimes taking a break from the mania can help you reevaluate, relax, and rejuvenate.
Despite the common myth that students who take time off from school never return, Ive found that taking time off can actually help put things into perspective. I was feeling overwhelmed; I had just transferred back home from an out-of-state college and the weight of having to play catch-up was too much! I felt like I needed a break from it all.
And thats exactly what I did. I took a semester off and just did whatever felt right. Now, that didnt mean I was out all night and sleeping all day! Instead I focused on carving out a plan for myself. I kept busy with an internship and a full-time job. I took up the violin again. I tapped into the things that put me at ease and, I must say, I am forever grateful for it!
So, CG!s, what do you think? Is taking a semester or even a year off from school a good idea? Have you taken time off, and do you recommend it to anyone else who may be feeling the pressure? SPEAK YOUR MIND!
Still unsure? Check out the Princeton Review for their take on this topic!
