If you dream of walking the red carpet and taking home an Academy Award, listen up: It's a totally attainable goal—especially if you work behind the scenes.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Watch all of the footage that was shot and then piece it together so it tells a complete story.

PROS:
You get to see all the scenes that were shot and decide which ones make it into the final cut.

CONS:
Staring at a screen all day. The director may disagree with your vision and make you start from scratch.

STUDY:
Try to go to a film school with an editing program (filmschools.com has a good list). If you can’t, take whatever film courses are offered at your college.

PRACTICE:
Get really familiar with motion picture software like Final Cut Pro, Avid, Photoshop, and After Effects.

WHAT YOU’LL MAKE:
Starting out (as an assistant), $1,000–$2,500 a week; earning potential, $7,000 a week.
