Hey y'all! I'm Nancy Redd, your new CosmoGIRL! Body & Soul expert and the first-ever CosmoGIRL.com blogger! I'm also the author of Body Drama, the first-ever photographic health and body book for young women. For the longest time, I didn't know that a lot of models were surgically enhanced, heavily made-up, or on starvation diets. I also didn't know until shortly before I became Miss Virginia that 99.9% of the photographs in magazines are digitally altered to appear perfect. Even after I found out, and even though I won the swimsuit competition at Miss America, I still felt bad about the way my body looked. In flattering clothes and makeup, with my stomach sucked in and high heels on, I always thought that I looked great… but underneath it all, I felt like my body couldn't compete with the flawlessly tiny and toned women that the media displays as "ideal." Now, having photographed dozens of women of all shapes and sizes for my new book Body Drama, I feel much better about my body. Now, I want to help YOU feel better, too!
In my blog, I'll be answering your most embarrassing and frustrating questions about your body, like why one boob is bigger than the other and what that white stuff is that you occasionally find in your underwear. In addition, I'll be sharing some of my favorite beauty tips and tricks, like how to give yourself a manicure and how to wax your legs. Also, being the lover of gossip that I am, there's going to be tons of talk about celebrity body drama, so feel free to chime in with your opinions and thoughts in the comments!
